ST. BASIL GREEK FESTIVAL
2019 MAY 31, June 1 & 2

ST. BASIL GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH, TROY, NY —  For the 25th year, the St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church members prepare feverishly for their annual Festival, an ethnic celebration of authentic Greek food, music and dance, starting on Friday, June 1 and ending on the 3rd, in Troy.

The ‘Best Little Festival in Town’ is a culinary treat, first and foremost, and St. Basil members are particularly proud of the reputation they have earned as having the best food in the tri-city area!  Guests can sample homemade Greek dishes, such as souvlaki, moussaka, lamb with potatoes and pastitsio. A number of ‘mezedes‘ (little tastes) and vegetarian dishes such as stuffed peppers and spinach pie (our famous spanakopita) can be followed by the famous ‘Never on Sunday‘ ice cream or sweets like baklava, kourabiedes and loukoumathes. TAKE-OUT available.

The three-day family event is made possible by the volunteer efforts of the entire St. Basil community. A wonderful demonstration of traditions being passed down from old to young, it is not surprising to find three generations of family members combining efforts in the Church kitchen!

Greeks love to eat, but also love to dance. The St. Basil Youth Dance Group, known for appearances at The Festival of Nations, will perform folklore dances from regions of Greece while LIVE music will be provided by Prometheus Orch throughout the weekend.  A Greek Bazaar will feature breads, cookies, crafts, T-shirts, and jewelry. Families can relax in a beautiful setting right by the Hudson River.  Don’t miss the $10,000 Raffle!

Guests are welcome during Festival hours on Friday 5-10 p.m., Saturday 12-10 p.m. and Sunday 12-5 p.m. Church Tours will be available during these times. The Youth dance Group will be performing on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., Saturday at 2:00 pm., 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. & Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

St. Basil is located on 909 River St. (Rt. 4) at 101st St., north of downtown Troy.
